DO YOU KNOW?

Ms.Phia photo collection

If you don't know and you want to know, ask.

If you don't understand and want to share, ask.

If you are curious that's good, you are doing a good process.

Do you know?

In English.. Ada panggilan seperti

  1. Mr.
  2. Mrs.
  3. Miss
  4. Ms.

But, jangan salah kalau kita mau pakai panggilan Mr. Ini ada dua cara

  • Pastikan diikuti nama belakang orang tersebut. Contoh yang common used last name ya:

"Hello Mr. Smith"

"What would you like to have, Mr. Kusumah"

"Everybody, meet Mr. Wijaya Kusumah"

"I'd like to meet my manager, Mr. Sam Smith"

Sometimes people call someone Mr diikuti dengan nama depan ,  menyebutkan panggilan Mr. Diikuti nama depan seseorang.

Contohnya:

"Mr.Smith, I'd like you to meet my wife. "

"Oh, nice to meet you Mrs. Kusumah"

"That's Mrs. Kusumah, she is Mr. Wijaya Kusumah's wife"

Miss. Hanya Miss saja.

Contohnya :

"How are you miss? "

"Miss Widya, you are next. "

" Miss Monica thank you for visiting our factory".

Be Wise and give respect.

Don't miss judge.

Contoh:

" I have an appointment to meet Ms. Phia today "

"Ms.Johnson is my co-worker, she is a professional worker"

" Let me contact Ms. Stone to confirm about this.".

Jangan salah lagi yaa. Dan ingat for some people they like to keep marital status as private matters, respect that.

Courtessy of WAG Tim GMLD

Treat people the way You want them to treat you, remember everyone in our lives is our customer. Always give the best of us.
Ms.Phia

At exactly 16:00 today I was a speaker for a program called GURU MOTIVATOR LITERASI DIGITAL, this is one of the many classes that Om jay (Bapak Wijaya Kusumah) Guru Blogger Indonesia fantastic program.

The topic that has been viral lately is related to HOAX and FAKE NEWS !, since millions of people are saying the words, it repeated something in our brain, to finally we concluded automatically that those two words mean trouble.

I would not be too focused on those two words and give what most people need within the digital world and literacy. I was focusing the topic on Staying Positive. The word alone "POSITIVE" brings out the good in our brain, no stress, no harmful meaning, no negativity.

All of us have been damaging our own minds, with negativity, well it is not that learning or discussing those two words is not an important matter, in fact, it is a crucial problem to be handled as fast, bit it is merely that when we talked or discuss HOAX and Fake News several days in a row will be the death of our soul.

The soul needs some positivity to be absorbed, so staying positive, saying positive, and doing positive will be the cure for a dirty wound caused by the fast-paced information.

On the webinar, I was giving away three books of mine for the best participants, and it was hard to decide who are the best one, but herein is the list f the winner :

1. Rina from Tanggamus Lampung

2. Fransisco Xavierius Fernandez from  Lombok Nusa Tenggara Barat

3. Ramafiel from Kota padang West Sumatra

HEAD START

Foto : Putri Salsabila Picture.

Saat aku mencoba menata kembali puzzle of my life, dia melengkapi bagian terbesarnya.

Buatku dia menyempurnakan aku.

Self love, begitu dia ajarkan semua orang.

You might want to check the link for more explanation.

From West Sumatra, Let's move a bit further to Other Island in Indonesia, Bandung, West Java. Yes, we are going to talk about one of this City's well-known food.  As you can see from the picture the food we are going to talk about is "Seblak".

Seblak is one of the Local wisdom started in Bandung, the original variant of seblak is made of Kerupuk ( Dried Chips), with Indonesian traditional spices like shallot, garlic, aromatic ginger (kencur), and loads of Chilly blend together. to make it more not only delicious but also nutritious, some may add chopped vegetebles like cabbage or kale even carrot.

Why is it local wisdom? because the recipes of this food are inherited generation by generation. Through words of mouth from time to time. Then it became a famous spicy food amongst the Sundanese in West Java. It is created from a family tradition, where Sundanese are mostly family people who like to stay close to the big family.

Seblak tastes savory and occasionally very spicy, today you can find Seblak in various types of ingredients. Dried Chips, Macaronies, Kwe Tiaw, Noodles, are some of the most used basic ingredients in making seblak. Recently, in 2019 people started to create a new type of Dried food it is called Japlak. Japlak is made of  Glutinous flour called kanji.

Japlak seblak has occupied the market of Seblak selling throughout the years until today. Teenagers of spicy foods lovers would have ordered this type of seblak. and since then seblak has been a famous spicy food with lots of different toppings.

High School is Coming Back

Thank you, would be an understatement, in this On Line opening ceremony last night, the one I wrote on my previous post, not only that I was introduced to a new beginning of writing path, but also come to my surprise, I was met with my Senior High School favourite teacher. Bu'Dwi that is how I always call her, when I propose a question on whether it is allowed to write the resume in English as a report to fulfill in this program, somebody chat me in the zoom meeting chat room, she sent a direct message to me, first question was " Assalamu'alaikum Bu Phia, dari sukabumi? " , I said yes then I asked her if she is from the same city, before she replied I noticed the name Dwi Pratiwi. Then suddenly it rings a bell in my brain, "Bu'Dwi? ", I curiously asked her back. " Ibu, dari SMA N 4 ? " When she replied "yes pantasan namanya kok familiar", that's when I am thrilled, goose bumps too. Ibu is my Senior High School favourite English teacher, as the conversation going, my mind was making scenes of high school memories with her.

That time I was a third grade student, ibu was a new young and single English teacher who got my class as her first meeting. She spoke English as an introduction, "wow! " I said silently in mind, because in high school she was the only English teacher who really spoke  and asked students in English, and that was what amazed me so much, after I got a little disappointed from not getting enough space to speak English at school, the other teacher were Seniors, and they did not speak or ask or maybe start a good conversation in English with the students, while I was too shy to start. Yes, I was a little shy that time, funny how I am not that much of a shy person today ( I could even say I am too confident 😄). Back to the topic, Bu Dwi,  I found out that she was a cheerful, caring, happy and enthusiastic teacher, I believe she is still the same person today. She motivates me to speak more English and to be spiritful like her. She gave me a new colour, she is my board marker.

Still in the old high school days,I join English competition, and when she taught English at my school, she was the one who always accompany me and the team in every competition. The one time that I will always remember, until this very day, Bandung competition. Me, my brother, and some friend joined an English speech competition for High School students of West Java province, and she was our escort teacher. The interesting part was not the competition, it was the time after we all finish our competition, I did Speech and poetry reading , my brother too and also the other friend from school. Bu'Dwi excitedly offer us if we would like to hang around the city since it was still early day, with her cheerful and spiritful style, and we took it, we took the offer. She then took us to a zoo, the fun part was that she was apparently a good tour guide too, she knows the city very well, maybe because she finishes her Graduate in the city, Bandung, she kept telling us stories how she used to visit places there when she was in university, she gossip a little too, I was overwhelmed, it was my first time to have this always Happy teacher, she made us all happy too, she then took us to eat and buy something from the street food seller, and she kept talking and talking and all of that made us all mesmerized. She can be my best friend and at the same time she is also my teacher. "I will be like her when I am a teacher" I thought.

Still amazed, now I know really how a good program like Belajar menulis community can become, this program that was Found by Om Jay, has allowed me to empower myself with marvelous new ideas to write, to put things into words if essays, and the best things about this program is that it has brought me to be met with my favourite teacher that has changed my life, my mindset and my purpose, Bu Dwi. This writing is dedicated to her, ibu Dwi for being the best of teacher and best friend at high school, My favourite person and OMJay and team for having me as one of the participant. May all of this program run well, and still all of us become the agent of change and a trend setter in our own ways.

Writing Class Opening

That's me in the picture, it has nothing to do with  this content I am writing here, though. But the picture reminds me of how enthusiastic I have always been to take tests, join classes, and meet lots of new people to share. My heart always beats faster when I want to put out my ideas into words in front of many people, On Line or Off Line. For me, having people who listen to what ideas or opinions  I want to say, has always been a great excitement, almost like I can jump all around of joy to have it. Yes, I Love to share what I know and take what people know, so I can learn new things all the time.

Tonight, was the Opening meeting for a new online Blog Writing class. Amazing as it sound, right?, yes, tremendously amazing. I met so many great writers, Bloggers, IT experts, teachers from all over Indonesia On Line. Isn't it weird how in this unbelievably, God Given pandemic of COVID-19 year, can give us a bit of a benefit?. Odd, huh? Benefit? Out of COVID-19? Yes, benefit, if not for this condition, It will be almost impossible for me to meet those 'knowledge rich" people, who are willingly to share their richness for free  even if it's  by On Line Media. It will be almost out of this earth, for me to be in the same room with them too. But, today I was with them, getting their "secret weapons", " War Strategies" And " Chicken soup" Of becoming a good  writer. And I was mesmerized.

The Opening meeting was not only and opening, but also a meeting full of scholarly advice and tips. The participants was  also as excited as me, for sure, questions after questions of curiosity were asked, far before the discussion session was even opened. Eagerness has control everyone's mind in the meeting, we were so enthusiastic to put all eyes and ears on each word and slide that the speaker showed. Every one of us tried to seriously involved with the explanation, and absorb every important points so we can start to write on our blog as soon and as great as possible. Although the first meeting will start two days from now, but the spirit of writing has built up so strong and high in our minds.

These are the things I have expected, appreciation, self awareness building and excitements, has made me a real humans once again, after ages I have not been involved with a mind blowing activities like this one, and I was lost for several years. Now, I have found my way back. I will be the agent of change once more. I will create  new things, I will do amazing things again. May all the good spirit and prayers be with me to finish this new path.

My Papaya Story

My Papaya Story

I have been joining this writers community club on WhatsApp group, it has been going on for maybe a month or two. For the last two months, I have never even tried to write anything in the group, while everybody else there posted so many things including their blog's writing. I was a fiction writer when I was very young, even published one of mine in a teenager magazine, but, then I stopped writing, exactly why? believe me, I have No Idea. Few years since I stopped I just lost it, lost the ideas, the spirit may be even lost my mind too a little, ha-ha

Today, at 5 PM, the admin of the Writers group sends this picture of papaya, there he urges everyone in the group to write something about the picture and post it on the group, he even offers a reward for the best essay. I was encouraged, why ?? well, simply because papaya reminds me a lot about my late mother. yes, My Mama, when I was a little girl, we many times got a visit from my mother's older brother, wak haji , that's how we use to call him, He had a huge papaya garden, in Indonesian we call it Pepaya Bangkok. a sweet and large type of papayas, and every time he or his sons visited us they always brought so many of the Pepaya Bangkok, I love it a lot since it tastes so sweet. My mama used to peel, cut, and serve it for us, we had papaya and shared stories that time, stories like how I can play so far with my friends and how she always gets mad when I came home late, happy things, you know family time.

Yes, I finally write a little story about my papaya memories, it wasn't a good one, though, it was short and maybe a little boring story about sweet papaya and family time stories of mine. I wrote it in Bahasa, I did not win the prize, ha -ha, but after I wrote it, the memories travel to when my Mama was still here with us. I have three other siblings. two brothers and a sister, I am the second kid in the family. We don't really meet a lot, now that we have families of our own. My older brother is married and stayed in a different city, my youngest brother stays with me, he has been having problems with his health, my youngest sister is also married and now she's 7 months pregnant, living with her husband in a different town too. We are different people, we have minds of our own, you know it's different now after  Bapak and Mama passed away, things happen, and some said I am bad at choosing people. I never regret my decision, though.

Yep, the memories travel to My mama and Bapak too, a father is the Pillar of a house, and a mother is a roof, when they are around, no matter how bad the house condition is, the wall always stands strong and the roof always protects us from the rain and storm. But, after they passed, it seems like we show who we really are, you know, the real you, the stubborn, arrogant, selfish, and grumpy us. perhaps it's true that all along our arguments stop due to our respect towards Bapak and Mama, now that they are not around, no one to respect, no one to ask solution no one to look up to anymore, By no means all I still respect them. Bapak, My father, he is this man I always look up to, my first love, the man who had never hurt me, he used to say " Kalau orang jahat sama kita, gpp, yang penting kita gak jahat sama orang " He can easily forgive people, even the baddest, he maybe was not a perfect person, but that is how I see my father, forgiveness, wild heart in soft emotions, a man that would smile when a neighbour friend, with his son's age, grab his collar and cockily tried to show him something. He is a wise man that would willingly open his arm to help people who hurt him. Mi Papa Mi Amor.

Still the memories travel to the old days, while my eyes focus on the three girls I have now, they are not only mine, my children, but they are also my teacher. I can live through the toughest times in my life, cause I have them. and I want to be the same person my father taught me for them, I want to be their first hero. I want to be their unforgettable story to tell, I want to be their papaya story, just like papaya you'll find a bit of bitterness outside, sweetness on the inside, and freshness all around.
